| There were many "X" types built over the years. The first X1 was a submarine of 2,780 tons launched at Chatham Dockyard 16/06/1923. She arrived at Pembroke Dock for breaking up 12/1936. The "X Class" Midget submarines of 35tons were built by various arms makers in 1943 and 1944. Some survived the war and X24 is preserved at Gosport. X51 class as "STICKLEBACK" above were all launched between 1954 and 1955. The "XE" class of 30 tons were built in 1944-1945. XE8 was raised in 1973 for preservation. No further details available. |
